Rasmus Pedersen,
Employed since 2008
Educated lorry mechanic
What do you do?
On a daily basis, I’m in charge of running the workshop at BHS Service Centre. We currently employ 10 journeymen and 4 apprentices.
My primary tasks consist of daily contact with customers and providing them with help to repair their lorries. I get my colleagues started on the task, after which I create orders for the spare parts needed for the repair.
I’m also responsible for approving invoices before they are sent to the customer, as well as our insurance matters. All in all, I have the general overview and I like to have a hand in everything.

What is the most exciting and challenging thing about working at BHS Service Centre?
The most exciting and challenging thing about being a workshop manager and mechanic at BHS is that no two days are the same. We work with different challenges and emergencies every day that suddenly come in off the street and need to be solved here and now.
I think it’s great when we can get these situations resolved as quickly as possible and make sure that customers can move on in a hurry. However, it can also be a bit hectic, which is why it’s nice to be able to relax at the end of the day.
How do you use your education in your current position?
I trained as a truck mechanic at BHS and have worked as a truck mechanic for 90 per cent of my time at BHS. Since then I’ve become a foreman, and in my current job as a foreman I realise that this is very important because I have a lot of professional and practical experience that I can draw on.
I’ve also been told that I’m polite and outgoing as a person, which is important as a foreman when I have to work closely with customers and colleagues. I’m also good at keeping a cool head in pressurised situations so that every task is done in the right way.

BHS Logistics/BHS Service Centre is an attractive company for me because I feel at home when I’m at work. I look forward to leaving every morning and when I’m off work, I’m already looking forward to the next day and working with my good colleagues.
