Kimmie Madsen

We previously spoke with Kimmie on our SoMe platform about her experiences in the transport industry, and now we continue our conversation with a deeper insight into her role as Team Leader at BHS Logistics.

Read on for a unique perspective on how she navigates an industry that is constantly evolving.

What is the most exciting part of working in the transport industry?

The most exciting part of working in the transport industry is the dynamics and the challenges that come with each day. Transport is never the same – there are always factors that can change, like the weather, traffic, customer demands, or unforeseen issues such as technical difficulties or delays. The constant change keeps you on your toes and requires you to be a problem-solver with an overview. It’s this dynamic that keeps me engaged and motivated in my work.

What challenge have you recently solved that you’re particularly proud of?

I am proud every day of how we in the team handle our daily tasks. Whether the challenges are big or small, collaboration and hard work make it possible to find solutions. I will always be proud of my team – their effort and dedication are my biggest success.

How has your role developed since you started?

My role has developed significantly. I started as a dispatcher, focusing on coordinating transport tasks and planning routes and deadlines. It was very practical. Now, as team leader, I have much greater responsibility – I make decisions about resources, lead a team, and ensure that all departments work efficiently together. I am also responsible for developing the team, managing motivation and well-being, and handling more complex tasks that require both leadership and technical understanding.

What do you see as the biggest change in the industry in the coming years?

One of the most interesting changes on the horizon is the development of autonomous vehicles and trucks. Although we are still in the early stages, this has the potential to revolutionize the transport industry. It will not only lead to cost savings but also increased efficiency. Of course, it will require major adjustments in infrastructure and new workflows, but it also opens up completely new opportunities that we haven’t seen yet.

How does your work contribute to the overall value chain at BHS Logistics?

As a team leader, I play a central role in ensuring that all logistical processes function effectively and on time. I coordinate the transport of goods from the warehouse to customers, which is a critical part of the value chain. When transport runs smoothly, products reach their destinations on time, ensuring customer satisfaction and smooth operations for the company. My team and I are constantly working to minimize delays and reduce costs, which creates significant value for both our customers and the company. I also work closely with other departments such as sales and warehouses, and the integration of these functions is what makes the value chain strong and efficient.

Why did you choose to work in logistics?

I have always been fascinated by how things connect and move from one place to another. Logistics is about finding optimal solutions to make the whole process more efficient – from handling goods to the final mile delivery. I see logistics as one big puzzle where you constantly need to find the best solutions to make everything work across time, costs, and customer needs.

How would your colleagues describe you?

I think my colleagues would describe me as someone with high standards, both for myself and for the team around me. I have a strong focus on delivering results and making sure everyone contributes to reaching our common goals. I value teamwork and make sure we are all motivated and working towards the same objectives.
