Notification of BAF surcharge
Ferry bunker surcharge per April 1st, 2026
The significant increases in oil prices in recent months – because of the geopolitical unrest and the current crisis in the Middle East between Israel/USA and Iran – have led to significantly increased bunker costs for shipping companies. These costs are invoiced as a BAF surcharge (Bunker Adjustment Factor), also known as a ferry bunker surcharge.
Despite ongoing optimization of our transport solutions and a continuous focus on cost control, BHS Logistics is forced to introduce a separate BAF surcharge to maintain stable and reliable transport solutions.
The surcharge will be enabled from April 1, 2026, and will appear separately on future invoices. We do not know the size of the surcharge yet but will announce it as soon as the final calculations and announcements from the shipping companies are in place.
The BAF surcharge will be adjusted on an ongoing basis in relation to developments.
In continuation of this, it should be noted that the shipping companies also continuously assess their costs related to The EU Emissions Trading System (ETS). It is expected that there will be a regulation of the shipping companies’ ETS allowance. We will also keep you informed of this development.
We hope for your understanding and are of course available if you have any questions or would like a dialogue about how the change affects your transport setup.
